IRS Hardship Program

Video Transcript

Facing severe financial hardship, the IRS hardship program can stop collections and give you relief. Here's how to qualify. Also known as the currently non-collectible or CNC status, this program suspends IRS collections for those unable to pay. Here's how you qualify. Number one, demonstrate that paying your tax debt would leave you unable to afford basic living expenses. Number two, provide documentation including income, expenses, and assets. Number three, file all outstanding tax returns to become compliant. While in CNC status, the IRS halts wage garnishments, levies, and any collection activity.
